Need advice-blown motor have $1400

Well I am allmost 100% sure that I have a blown coolant seal Soooo.... I need to ethier buy a JDM motor (I work at a speed shop) that I can get wholesale for $1200 or rebuild mine. I am very reluctant to go the JDM route because a compression check wont show a blown coolant seal. But Im not sure that my $1400 would cover a rebuild. I can pull and reinstall the motor no problem so labor is not an issue.

I have owned several 2nd gen RX7 and this is my first 3rd gen and my first major engine problem. Any help and advice is highly appreciated!

Here's what I'm possibly getting for my rebuild: Master Rebuild Kit, all coolant hoses, all vacuum hoses, all engine related gaskets, one rotor housing, and one intermediate housing....over $2,200 so far.

Yeah, they're a crapshoot. I wouldnt do it. I am a shop owner, so I have an idea of what all is at your disposal. Rebuild it yourself. I have had rebuilds as cheap as $300. I don't really see what the problem is.......

It's not quite that simple, lol. Pay for my round trip ticket from NJ out there and I'll do it for ya . PM me.

Sounds like you need to get a bigger radiator and/or dump that front mount IC.

I get Mazda remans for $2K, that'll be cheaper than rebuilding yours and more safe than a JDM motor.

Get it fixed before I come down there and whoop up on you this year in my yellow monster.

That's quite a coincidence. I recently spent 3 weeks up in Liverpool for job training, staying in a hotel. Shoot me a PM and we may be able to work something out.
