Clutch Switch

I broke the clutch switch connector while I was down there and doing some rewiring. Will I damage my clutch if I drive with this disconnected or am I alright. I'm going down to Mazda tomorrow to try to order the part but who knows how long that will take? If anybody knows how to do a quick fix or can give me some idea of what this switch actually does please let me know.

I would think that it would be hard to start the car without the clutch switch being activated.

It's not the starting switch. It's another one that is on the top part of the clutch pedal.

SilverR1,
The car will run but may want to stall when depressing the clutch, with the tranny still in gear and the A/C and lights are on. It will also idle wierd and fluctuate. This switch sends a ground to the ECU when the clutch pedal is depressed. The part number for a new switch is LA01-66-490A, it should cost @$15. How do I know, trouble shooting for above symptoms when the spring inside the switch broke!
