Clutch Replacement Cost - worth it?

Hello all!

I have been shopping around for a new clutch and it seems like Napa, Autozone, and OReilly all sell new clutch sets for $400. Exedy's clutch is also about $430. Can I find them cheaper elsewhere?

What should I be paying for a new clutch? What is the best place to get a whole clutch set?

1994 RX-7 base (never modified, all stock/original)

the clutch is unique to this car, so it is more expensive. if its all original i'd go with the exedy oem clutch kit

Yes, get the whole set (i.e. clutch kit). I would recommend something like:

http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/zx3-hdss.htm

It will give you OEM feeling and be able to take more power should you decide to upgrade your car in the future.

My personal preference is from rx7.com. Always in stock. Always excellent customer service.

+1, The guys at RP are top notch. They really know their ****, get everything out on time, and (most importantly) they won't try to sell you stuff you don't need!!!

There are several versions of the exedy. What are your goals/power for the car?

I want to keep it completely stock (it is currently completely stock). I am actually fixing it up to sell and am debating replacing the clutch. The car pulls hard, drives fine, but under WOT it slips a little. It is definitely drivable as it is, I just want to get the most for my money. You think it is worth it to pay $1000 for a new clutch? Will I get that back when I go to sell it?

+1 for the Bonez kit.
Cheap, feels like stock, and holds up to a shitload of abuse.

If you plan to keep it stock go to autozone and get the OEM replacement part. You won't notice a damn bit of difference.

If you just want to replace it to sell the car and keep it stock go with the Exedy OEM one. Best bang for the buck.
