clutch problems

Went to go for a drive today in my '93, lost clutch shortly into drive...hydraulic system seems intact, slightest pressure on pedal produces strong vibration (as if feeling the fingers on the pressure plate with the throw out bearing)...haven't had one of these apart yet...sound like wedge/ring problem? Anybody had same experience? Car still drives, started it in gear and limped home. Tranny's coming out...any tips?
Thanks

ACT makes a nice Street/strip clutch if you are planning on over 300 rwhp. If the car is relatively stock, the OEM clutch will be fine. You should consider replacing the flywheel with a lighter one while you have it apart.

No telling what you will find until you have the tranny out.

If your going to upgrade the clutch i wouldn't do a lightend flywheel, well not as light as you can go at least not as light as they go. I have a spec clutch that is good for like 400 hp and it cost less than ACT. If you have questions about pulling the trany and and getting through all of that in a step by step method i know the GooRoo has it all writen down. He helped me with my clutch.

Not sure what that means, or where you got your mis-information. A light flywheel is one of the best mods you can do for this car.

IIRC, when I was considering this, they offered two different weights in aftermarket flywheels. Don't remember the exact weights for sure, I think 9.5 and 11 lbs. The heavier of the two was a compromise between the OEM flywheel's around town "stop & go" driveability and the quicker acceleration advantages of the lightest flywheel. Maybe that's what he's referring to.

I second adam c's recommendation on the ACT S/S for mildly modded cars.
Consider a new clutch fork too.
