Clutch Job Questions
I finally got my flywheel off and there is no counter weight on it. (Make sure you put that flywheel nut on good when removing!!!) I have read many many posts about clutches, flywheels and how to get the job done. I was under the impression that there was supposed to be a counter weight on there. I have the manual trans and it does not look like anyone has ever been in there. Are the counter weights only used with the auto trans and lightweight flywheels or am I missing something?
Also there is a lot of old grease in the e-shaft where the pilot bearing and oil seal go. Does that hole lead to anything or is it blocked off? I ask because I am planning on spraying some solvent in there to clean it out. I don't really want that stuff getting into anything important in the motor.

IIRC there should be some extra metal on one side of the back of the flywheel, therefore not needing a counterweight. That is if it's the stock flywheel. But if it didn't have any issues running before you got in there I would assume it's the stock flywheel and everything is fine, haha.
The hole in the end of the E-shaft doesn't go anywhere, it's just there for the end of the tranny to fit into. If you're going to clean that grease and stuff out, refill it with grease once you have the roller bearing in there. It's lubed for a reason. Good luck!
