Clutch install procedure?
I'm almost done preparing my rebuilt motor to go back into the engine bay. I pulled it with the tranny, and snapped off the wire ring holding the release collar using a big screwdriver, just as it's explained in the shop manual.
What I can't seem to figure out is how to reverse this procedure. Can I bolt the (new) pressure plate to the flywheel, with the disk centered and aligned of course, and then with the tranny bolted up just snap the release collar back into the center of the pressure plate?
Or should I secure the pressure plate using the wire ring to the release collar and release fork, put the disk on the input shaft of the tranny, bolt up the tranny and go the long route of bolting the pressure plate to the flywheel through the inspection hole?
Also, the manual says not to reuse the wire ring, is this very important? Well, if ACT cluthes come with a new ring I already have one though..
Thanks.

Put everything on the engine.(flywheel, disc, pressure plate with wire ring.) Put the release collar on the input shaft of the trans and locate it to the fork. Bolt on the trans. Go in threw the inspection cover and push the release collar into place with the shift fork.(what the slave cylinder pushes on) This should lock your release collar into place. No need to go the long route of bolting the pressure plate after installing the trans. Did this help you at all?
