clutch fork and slave cylinder

well my slave cylinder went so i got a new one from malloy. Go to put it in, and the clutch fork is too far away, it barley touches it. When you press the clutch in it knocks the spring and black boot off the slave cylinder. what is causing my slave cylinder to be too far away? Am i going to need to drop the tranny? Thanks Jay

Are you sure the throw-out bearing is locked into the wedge collar?

It may be seperated. Try pulling the lever towards the back of the car, it may pop into place.

Provided nothing is damaged and the wedge collar is still pressed into the pressure plate, you can push/pry the throw-out bearing into the wedge collar through the inspection plate (without dropping the tranny).

Like Mahjik said, it may be as simple as reaching through the access hole (just above where the slave cylinder bolts on/towards the top side of the tranny). It shouldn't take much force, just pull it towards the rear of the car.

It has to be the clutch fork. I did the same thing at least 5 times before I realized the problem. Pry it like mentioned above. Mine didn't click or anything, but you can look through the lower access panel on the tranny and see the fork is in a different postion. After that no problems.
