Clutch combo questions
Hey Guys,
I'm putting my motor/car back together and would like some feedback on clutches. My previous set up was stock port motor (73K miles)with M2 stg3 ecu, fmic, d/p,magna flow catted midpipe, EVC3, home made water injection, ported waste gate, and Rb cat back.
I was pushing around 15-17psi of boost with this combo for over a year or 5k miles with this set up. I have not ideal how much power I was putting down but I felt really strong, no clutch slippage at all.
My question is, how much power/toque will the stock clutch hold before it starts slipping?
How about a stock pressure plate with Racing Beat street/stripe disc. How much power will this hold? Why the stock pressure plate? Well, I like the peddle effort of the stock plate and don't want to increase it too much..
Thanks for your time, Jay

Typically the problem is with the pressure plate and not the clutch disc itself. Even upgrades like the ACT Street/Strip use basically a stock clutch disc with a stronger pressure plate.
The stock pressure plate usually starts giving up the ghost around 310+ rwhp. It first starts slipping in the higher gears (more load on the clutch) and then becomes worse the longer you use it. If you want something with an OEM feeling but can hold more power, look at the ACT Street/Strip clutch. It feels very OEM and can hold some good power.
