Bringing this thread back. I purchased a new clock spring ( broke the original pulling the dashboard) but it does not have the second smaller white plug. Anyone know what the smaller white plug is for? I think the larger white plug is for cruise control.
After installing the new clock spring I get 6 airbag flashes which means the airbag is not connected at the clock spring?
The white plug won't be related to the air bag. All air bag connectors for the system are those funky orange/blue connectors.
You typically see the white plug for the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. Not sure what the other white plug would be. Are you sure that clock spring is from an FD and not another Mazda?
Hi Dale,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, the clock spring is brand new from Atkins Rotary. Mazda doesn't make them anymore and I broke the turn signal on the original one when pulling the dashboard. I saw that they still had a few in stock and spent the $$$ to get one of them. I decided to install the Nardi Mazda steering wheel to update the look as long as I had everything off. I swapped out back to the original clock spring to see if I get this error and I still do. I then swapped out to the original steering wheel and I still get this error code. My cruise control and horns all work fine on the steering wheel so it doesn't appear to be a wheel problem. So, I am dumbfounded what can be the cause? All the connectors are firmly together. The only thing I noticed was that one single white connector is not attached to anything.
OK my bad, I re-read the first part of the thread. If you only have the one white connector you are good. Still don't know what OP had there.
Anyhow, you may want to unplug the battery, then hold down the brake pedal for 30 seconds, then re-connect the battery. Could be the airbag computer just has a stored code.
Are you using the stock steering wheel or another airbag steering wheel?
