IRP vs Sakebomb Marine coil ignition systems

Looking between the two different options. Both are highly respected, but it looks like there is one small difference. The IRP system has (2) engine block grounds as opposed to 1 with Samebomb. The IRP is also a little less expensive for the same kit.

Reading through threads related to the ignition and especially grounding on ignition, there are a lot of differing opinions. Wanted to see if someone had real life experience with either or both and why I would not want the IRP with extra ground and for less cost?

I'd choose the IR Performance harness because it has the specific rotor housing grounds for the respective coils. For the best performance and most reliable spark you want your ground path to be the lowest resistance possible, the individual rotor housing grounds accomplish that task.

Ask SBG for their installation instructions there are some additional grounding instructions for certain configurations. It's a hot topic, but generally speaking you can buy genuine IGN1a coils from summit racing and build your own harness with the recommended wiring from the manufacturer and be hundreds of dollars ahead.

Reference this discussion here for proper grounding (and the manufacturer spec below)

If the IR kit is truly plug and play, that would be a plus. The SBG kit I installed required that I depin the igniter plug to fit the FD-side wiring into the SBG-supplied plug. It was a bit of a hassle to get all the wires out of the plug, if that could be avoided it would be an additional benefit. I bought my kit several years ago, however. It's possible they have improved it with an OE-compatible plug by now.

I vote for IRP because of what others have said.

Appreciate both responses. I did see the multi thread arguments over grounding locations and number of, which is why I posted this thread to see if anyone had specific feedback or details between the two.

I do not mind spending the extra few hundred to help support a good rotary shop(either of the two I am suggesting).

I bought all pieces separate, found genuine coils cheaper somewhere, got the bracket and plug wires from sakebomb and the harness from C. Ludwig.
