Climate Control Selector Operation?

My Climate Control *****, Atleast I Think, Aren't working how they should be...

The blower speed selector works fine, but with a little bit of play. The vent selector has more play. It's just not really tight-feeling. Those 2 aren't what's been bugging me. It's the damn Temp **** that pisses me off. It's almost like the selector itself isnt secure, and when u turn it , the selector doesnt switch until you turn it to the point where the wiring on it gets turned so much it finally can't move anymore and THEN the switch moves...make sense? Its like soft-feeling, you have to spin it almost a full 180 for it to begin tightnening, then you feel it tighenup and start to click. I can tell someone went under the trim pieces to **** with the wiring at some point. The center console isn't even secured, it pulls right off. The security light doesn't blink like it's supposed to, so im afraid the "overheat exhaust system" light doesn't work either. I'm not sure if they were just falsly wired into the system to where they are not getting the signal to light up, or if the bulbs themselves are simply dead. I'm hunting for "as good as new" interior plastic trim right now so I can completely redo the inside and make sure the guts of the wiring are okay.

So basically I am asking if the way the ***** are moving is normal. I can't imagine that being the case, just it's just outright shitty. Also if anyone has any near perfect interior trim, I'll buy it right up

Grab the **** and pull it straight off. Once its off you'll be able to see what's wrong. There is a tang on the **** that needs to line up with a hole and then you can just tighten up the nut holding the heater control on. 5 minute fix.
