NC CJ motorsports dual bosch 044 setups

Just a quick service update I guess..

I have the cj motorsports dual pump hanger with the 044's. I recently had a fuel issue and had to take the pump assembly out. When I did that I noticed one of the pumps had slid out of the hanger. The plastic piece that holds the pumps in place has deformed from sitting in the fuel. The once hard plastic was now soft and pliable.

Just want u guys to check it out.

Hmm I was going to buy one of these.... I really do like the look of it, is there any other ones out there? I guess you could weld up some metal holders?

What type of fuel are you running in the tank?

We use a special type of plastic that is safe for submersion in gasoline. We havent tested it with E85 or anything like that, but I would expect it to be safe for that too as its the same type of plastic all modern OEM fuel pump hangers are made from.

How long has it been installed?

We have well over 100 of them out there, this has never been reported to us. It is entirely possible that our plastic supplier gave us the wrong plastic in a batch, it would be difficult for us to tell as we cannot let every machined part soak in gasoline for months to test it! Gasoline safe plastics are very specific, and the wrong type would definiately deform. I am thinking that is what has happened here. Because we have the very first set that we machined years ago in our test bucket of gasoline. We throw questionable materials in there to soak and check on it over time to see how things are holding up. The original plastic brackets we made are still in there and doing well after several years.

You should contact us at sales@cj-motorsports.com

All of our products are lifetime warrentied assuming correctly used, installed, and not damaged by the customer. Contact us, and you will be taken care of. I have no problem what so ever shipping you a new set of brackets. Please attach pics of the deformed ones to the email just so we can check it out please.

We put a lot of effort into researching material compatabilities since most of our products that we retail or private label are fuel system products. So its definitely something that we pay a lot of attention to. I think somehow the wrong plastic got used at some point and that has left you with deformed brackets. I apologize for your troubles. Just shoot us over an email with your address etc so I can get a fresh set over to you.

Thanks for standing behind ur product. I'm not at all unhappy with your product. I actually just ran two worm drives around the pumps to hold them.

The plastics were very nice and tight when I first installed them. The reason for pulling the assembly out, was that I lost fuel pressure. Took the setup out to find on pump had slipped halfway down thru the plastic bracket. Maybe, not sure that was the issue of why the hose on that pump was pulled off. I used push locked fittings in the tank and also noticed the submerged hose was soft as well. And the line could slide right off. I just zipped tied everything and put it back in the tank. Lol.

I run 93 pump gas, and have recently filled up with 100 octane at the pump. Never race gas or e85. I installed everything a few days ago and didnt take any pics. I plan on doing the braided lines upgrade so when I take it out again I will take pics and maybe send the plastic brackets to you.

But again..... love your product.

Thanks for the detailed information. It definitely has to be the wrong plastic that we machined those brackets out of this time. Things to keep in mind... the zipties you used may do the same thing! everything put in gasoline has to be a special material to handle that environment. special zip ties, special hoses, special wire! We never included wire because it would bring the product up about $10-15 and the high quality stuff we would use, and most fuel pumps people buy come with enough wire.

Also, you mentioned that you wanted to do a SS braided hose upgrade. SS braided hose isnt typically made of submersible hose. Usually just the very inner liner is rated for use in gasoline, and the outter liner will degrade from underneath the SS braided!

The best stuff to use inside the tank for this type of stuff is the Aeromotive AQP pushlock hose. It comes in blue or black, and is VERY high quality. I have a section of it that was in the gas tank of my 350z for 7 years, exposed to nothing but 100 octane unleaded for its entire life, and while it a little stiff, its holding strong. We use that for almost everything in-tank.

Man that is great info. I actually searched for the submersable hose when I first did the build and that's what I used. Also used the push lock fittings u speak of. I used the black hose and I will try the blue when I take it apart again. I kinda daily drive the car so I try to keep it running instead of sitting.

I will send u all thr pics when I tear into again, which should be soon, cause like u said the zip ties won't hold up either.
