Chrome intake manifold

I think that chrome manifolds, or even polished ones look great in the FD engine bay. My problem is I don't know where to get them. Does anyone know where I can purchase one, or did you have it machined that way? Thanks.

Don't know of anyone ever chroming the thing. They have been polished to get that reflective finish. There is a procedure written on the Robenette site, quite time consuming, takes patience. TwinTurboTeddy also does it for a fee, you'll have to send the manifold to him, don't know if he still does it, do a search on polished UIM or pm him.

You can PM twinturboteddy, he does polishing, and there are a few others on the forum.

It will look pretty weird if you only get the manifold polished. You would have to send it to a shop or TTT can do it too. TTT does outstanding work. Also, there is a website that shows some of his work, however, I can't remember it right now.

Well I plan on getting the GReddy elbow in the near future, and that's polished. I don't want my entire engine looking bling-bling, (first time I've ever used that in a sentence) but I would like it to look nice and clean with a bit of shine.

Chrome will hold in the heat do not have it chrome plated, plus the gasket surfaces will not seal as well . This knowledge is from Garfinkle who has built many custom motorcycles ,with alot of chrome, and all of the show bikes ran, thus had to be leak free

Yep yep
Chrome = Show.
It attracts WAY too much heat.

Get it polished or jet hot coated. www.jet-hot.com

This is a Jet-hot coating:

Mine is polished. Most people who try to polish it themselves suggest taking it to a polish shop when they finish or give up. I guess it is a lot of work. It should be $100-200 to have it polished at a shop.

However, I have been thinking about having mine coated lately. It seems like it would be good to reduce heat soak. Next time I have my engine rebuilt, I think I will have both the lower and upper manifolds coated.

Someone in Japan was selling them already polished. I want to say R-magic but I could be wrong, but I know they are sold somewhere over there..

I'll post pics of my stuff when I get it back from twinturboteddy. I'm getting him to polish a handful of parts. Its prob going to be a few weeks before I actually have the motor back in with everything attached and running but I'll take some high res pics of everything off the car so you guys can see how it looks.

ok, how about the TB, do you have to remove everything on it to have it polish?

how hard is it to remove the butterfly and all the mechanism.

Ask Vosko for some pics of his motor. Thats one polished ************.

You can try fd3BOOST also. Not sure if he still does it though. You should see under his hood, you need these

Turbo Jethot-ed, everything else polished by TTT. FD3Boost (dave) does some excellent work too.

I WAS in the process of polishing mine when I saw what TTT does, then I realized that I would never be able to get it to look like that so 6+ hours later I decided to have it done.
