Check your Headlight Covers!

Just a friendly reminder for everyone to take a moment and check your headlight covers (lids). I check mine fairly often, and I checked them today, and both of mine were cracked, and I would have lost them both soon probably. A nice application of plastic weld fixed them right up for good. It only takes 5 minutes to check and see if you get to keep them after your next drive or not.

Easy way to check is give a *light* tug on the back edge of the headlight cover with the hood up. If there is any movement, you can look at the backside of the headlight where the cover mounts to see where the thin plastic is broken off.

Don't pull too hard though, or you might break one that wasn't broken..... like i did.

All the tabbs broken

Fabbed brackets hotglued on:

Yeah, the hot glue wasn't the best idea. I took off the brackets I made and put them
back on with JB Weld.

i'm on waiting on my third headlight cover since i got my FD (2nd replacement, one was missing when i got her). long story short, i saw how thin the mounting tabs were, so when i got the third headlight cover, i put 5 coats of JB Weld on the tabs and the areas around them. i'm waiting on my 4th headlight cover to get here, and when it does, it's getting repainted and then 5 layers of JB Weld, too :P

I'm hard to get rid of.

Seriously guys, check your lids! Small cracks turn into big ones quick once they start.

I am lucky that the tabs are cracked, but not missing from my covers. I am just going to add some aluminum reinforcement with JB to keep it in place.

Or I'll just go sleek headlights in the future.
