Check valve replacement QUESTION

I am replacing some vaccum line and check valves and I was wondering if the aluminum check valve to the purge control solenoid can be replaced with the regular viton Dale spencer sells or do I need to stick with the aluminum one. The aluminum one does not hold when I test it with vacuum pump.

You need to stay with aluminum. It's possible to get gas through that line since it's part of the evaporative system.

This is good information, and I'm not sure how the average person would know not to put a viton check valve there. I am one of those people who is "doing it wrong."

I also left mine in place, since I used silicone hoses I did not replace the hoses running through that path.

Dale "Spencer" here

My check valve kits only have ones to replace the plastic check valves. Typically the aluminum ones last for a VERY long time, if it's sticking, spraying some carb cleaner through it will probably get it going again.

That said, there is no problem running one of my check valves for the aluminum check valve. I've been doing it on my car for years now with no problems. But, I just haven't found it worth replacing that check valve with a Viton check valve so I haven't included a 5th one in the kit.

If anyone would like a Viton check valve to replace the aluminum one, I'll ship just the one for $5 or add one for $3 if you're ordering a new set.

Viton has excellent gas/oil resistance in case of fuel misting, so the valve material shouldn't degenerate, but don't know about the plastic check valve housings.

The ones I sell are made of Kynar which is resistant to fuel/oil and handles heat very well.

Let's put it this way - I warranty my check valves for life. They work that well .

Looked 'Kynar' up & found this. That material sounds like good stuff (and so does Dale's warranty).
