Check engine light won't go off with PFC?
I have had my PFC for about 6 months. I had it installed 6 months ago and then put my car into storage. The check engine light was fine when I orignally had it installed. After disconnecting and reconnecting the PFC my check engine is now illuminated. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the batery cables and I let the car idle for 30mins after reconnecting the PFC as intstructed for first installation. Does anyone know how I can get the check engine light off? Is it possible that it could be something else not PFC related?? thanks.

I dont know if this might be the reason, but it could be your egr value and/or O2 sensors. I had to replace these in order to make the check engine light dissapear, but replacing these are costly. Hope this helped you out.

It does seem likely that you had a sensor go bad. Go to the sensor monitor page on the Commander display and see if anything stands out. Press the gas, change the manifold pressure (start the engine and make sure the voltage changes). Watch the temp sensors change, etc.

quick question, how would i be able to pull the engine codes without the stock ecu. I sold mine after installing my PFC which doesn't have the stock lights used for reading the error codes.

There are no codes to pull. The PFC lights the CE light to indicate a knock reading over 60 or boost above the target limit (to the point that fuel cut would occur). If a sensor fails it will light the Exhaust Overheat Light in the center console, you can check which sensor in the Etc. menu on the Commander. Since your CE light is on always I'm going to say that there's either a problem with your PFC, with your knock sensor, or maybe with your MAP sensor. I'd start by resetting the PFC, and then checking the knock sensor as per the shop manuals instructions. From there if your still getting the CE light swap out the ECU with a known good ECU (a known good PFC would be even better). Good luck!

by resetting the PFC do you mean unplugging it and plugging it back in again. I've tried this several times and have not been able to get the CE light to go off. How do you reset the PFC? Thanks for your help.

I know this isn't going to help you any but if and when you have the commander you can reinitialize the PFC right through it. I know that it stores the information that are in the maps and I am assuming any problems that is has even if you disconnect the battery. I was worried about losing some of my maps when my battery went dead but when I got a new one and put it in all the info was still there. I was so paranoid that I wrote all of my maps down and believe me that takes a long time.
I guess my suggestion to you would to be to shell out the $250 or $300 it takes to get the commander. Just make sure you get the same version as your computer though or it won't work.
