Check Engine idiot Light

The idiot light "check engine" come on occasionally. The manual says it is an electrical problem.

Everything is running fine. No problems. I stop the car each time and check everything. Find nothing. Start the engine and the light is off. I can go for days before it comes back on.

Anyone have any ideas of what I should be looking for?

Get the error code using the shorting technique on the diagnosis module. then you can have an idea of where the problem is.

you may just have a sticky sensor that doesn't engage and disengage all the way. Mine had the same problem but I never bothered to fix it. It went away all by itself. I hate when that happens

same **** happens to me...comes on and turns off...funny thing really. Only thing is you get embarassed when someone else is in the car, so you make a bullshit excuse like "oh the o2 sensor is probably bad"

Mine did that this morning the car was not fully warmed up and hesitated at 3K. So I went back around the block and home, turned the car off, and restarted the car. The light went off and no hesitation at 3K went away should I worry about this? Or is this nothing but a funny light?

Check your engine codes... turn your car off and ground the ten... most likely it is the intake air thermosensor(?) I believe that's error code 11. It's a sensor that is under intake manifold that is prone to failing

Do you have an aftermarket computer?

How the heck would cleaning the ground strap solve an ECU code? It'll be back until you replace the sensor. Time to read the code and do the fix bud!

I'm not sure but it hasn't lit up since I did it. I was just cleaning my engine bay and decided to check the contact points on the strap. It's kind of hard to read the ECU code when the light isn't on, isnt it chief? If the light comes back on then I'll definately fix it.

Read this and that's how you get the code. You have to jump wire the diagnostic port in the engine bay with a paper clip or wire to read the code!
