Hi All,

I am thinking of buying a RX-7 from a friend. The car is a direct Japanese import and claimed to be a 1995 car. However, the chassis number is FD3S-101305 which is older than those of 92 cars I saw on the internet. The japanese logbook was entered in some dodgy japanese kanchi written by a non-japanese (I am Chinese and used to work for a japanese bank in London). I suspect that my friend might have been a victim of a dodgy importer's handy work.

I wonder if there is a RX-7 guru who knows how to map the chassis number to the actual year of registration.

This is for US models so I'm not sure if this will apply for you (but here it is:

 

The VIN on mine is higher than the one you listed...so i'd say you have a 94 or older

 

Thank you to those who are following and taking part in my thread. As it is a direct japanese import, the VIN is in local japanese format and differ from the US format. I am particularly interested to hear from those owners with direct japanese import RX7s.
