Charge Temps Too High....

M2 medium IC

perhaps the duct is not sealed properly or something, but I'm seeing charge temps of 60 to 70 degrees C on the PFC!! seems way too high

maybe I need a barn door front mount

I run a M2 Medium in the squelching Las Vegas heat (105-115 ambient), and I'm only seeing 55-60 deg. on my PFC. My IAT sensor is still in the stock location, so heat soak destorts the reading a bit.

I have some data on my laptop from a car with a stock mount trust intercooler. The charge temps were still pretty high even in the winter. In traffic it heat soaked like crazy but the temps came into the 30's from memory whilst on throttle.

I have seen those numbers when the car has been parked for 15 minutes and that's due to heat soak. Is the front on your IC filled with leaves, paper or maybe plastic?

If the sensor is still in the stock location( UIM) it will give heat soaked readings. Espcially during summer. Move it to the intercooler piping before in intake elbow. Easiest way is to extend wiring to the newly welded location.

if you're going down the freeway the UIM should not be heat soaked

I can't remember what the typical turbo outlet temps are, but I always thought a good IC could achieve 20-30 F above ambient....I'm not seeing it

Heat soaking will affect the sensor if nothing else which could be worse if actual charge temp is much lower. In the stock location your reading will be high on a hot day.

I doubt it's the IC's fault.

How about some more details about what you're doing when you see the temps, when you see them, what the ambient temps are, etc....

.... those aren't necessarily unusual twin-turbo SMIC temps, depending on how you're running.
