Was trying to search but was acting up. Anyone ever change the rear wheel bearings on an FD? I have noticed a humming type noise coming from my rear wheels and have pretty much decided it was wheel bearings... Got 2 new ones from ray at Malloy.

Just wanted to know what is needed to change them out...

Just did mine a few days ago. You will need to get the car in the air, take the wheel off, remove your rotor & caliper then follow this diagram in order to remove the rest.
I think its about 10 nuts/ bolts total. Check page m-10 out.

doesn't take too long if you have press, a 3 arm gear puller and know what you are doing.

oh...and some really good snap ring pliers! That snap ring that holds the bearing in is a total bear.

Let me know if you have any questions I did mine not too long ago. Also, when I tried to grind the old bearing race off of the spindle, I ruined the spindle and had to buy another. Really there was not much of a way to get that race off of the spindle in my case. A new one was about $80 from Ray. So...total cost....$160 or so....took about an hour after I figured everything out.

If you include all the tools I bought...the high quality Craftsman Pro Snap ring pliers, sockets to press and receive with, gear puller...I probably got up in the $260 range.

How much would a shop charge?
