Changing rear tranny oil seal?

I have a small crack at the bottom of the seal and it needs to be replaced. IF i have the car level and remove the old seal will a lot or any oil pour out?

And to i need a special tool to set the new seal intoplace or will just tapping around it with a hammer work?

You can do the seal without draining the tranny oil. As for the install, I believe we just used a short piece of pipe a bit smaller in diameter to tap it in. It has been a while since I did mine the last time and I'll be damned if I can remember just how it seated in there. It was definitely not difficult.

I think some oil will come out, but not a whole lot. If you raise the rear of the car you may prevent any oil from coming out.

A hammer and punch is fine for installing it, just really take your time, make sure it goes in straight, and be patient getting it started.

pry out the old one with a screwdriver etc. etc........

gently tap the new one in with a hammer in a circular motion
