Change Oil after Dyno run ?

Hi Guys,

I 've just changed the engine oil and i am now going to setup my Apexi ecu on a dyno due to some minor performance upgrades. Due to the stress put on the engine (high oil temps) during the dyno runs to setup the ecu, do i have to do an oil change? I am going for a Track day in a weeks time too.

Thanks in advance!

Ken

that seems silly to me.

if i had to change my oil for every time i went WOT at a road course and autocross events i attend, i'd have very little money for anything else

Thanks for your feedback. I was just concerned about the oil temp getting too high.

It wouldnt hurt the engine, just your pocket a lil though.

If you're that OCD, just change the oil and reuse the filter. Oil is cheap anyway.

I know thats why i was just saying if you're that OCD, change the oil only, since the filter will be reusable anyway.

Castrol gtx by the 5+ gallon is like 12 bucks.

Does the oil appear to be heavily diluted?

how long were you on the dyno? oil temps may have gotten pretty high depending on how good the cooling fans were. You are mostl likely fine, but like Qwik said if you are concerned just change the oil only filter will be fine. My guess is if you are asking you are going to worry about it, so go buy a jug of castrol and change it out and sleep well.

^^ THanks Guys. I guess i'll change the oil just to put my mind at rest as blue87 suggested. The will be doing roughly an hour or two on the dyno.

I use Motul mineral oil. Its not cheap but i find it good (at least for now)
