I wish there were a good solution for the stock twins.

I wrapped my downpipe in a DEI "titanium exhaust wrap" kit I got off ebay. I am certain it made a difference in underhood temps.

That aero-lite tape looks like a good idea that might not cost as much as a ceramic coating.

I don't remember what kit I ordered but I think that will be enough. It depends how much you overlap each loop and of course the diameter of your DP. I had quite a bit left over. Also the stainless zip ties don't work as well as a large hose clamp in my opinion.

Tom, did you get the heat reflective tape and how did it work? I was thinking to wrap IC piping as well.

If you're looking for actual coatings and not wraps, contact these guys and pick their brain.

They've done several enginefor engine internals and other exterior parts for heat management.

Don't buy those LIM blanket shields. They like to flake into a million pieces and long story short....they're junk! The best ting to do is what we're doing, a thin ceramic coat on the inside and outside of the runners and using inferno heat wrap on the downpipe and turbo manifold. If you want to add a LIM solid heat shield it will only help but the wrap puts the biggest dent in heat management.

I don't suggest using a no name/low quality ceramic coating on the inside of the runners. It WILL flake off and could cause damage to the turbine wheel. Speak to a professional about ceramic coating

How much would cost to coat lower and upper IM? I might look into that. Another option would be to make metal sheet and tape it with golden tape. Something like Petit LIM shield. It should not be to difficult to fabricate.

Yes, I put the aero-lite tape on the LIM I think it works good. I put the dei titanium wrap on my downpipe and single turbo exhaust manifold. I made my own LIM heat shield out of a thin piece of tin sheet metal, it also works decent even though I didn't put anything on it, it was a little tricky to make and fit but not too bad. And I made a turbo heat shield, and got a nicely vented hood, see pics of everything here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/tom_truxell/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/tom_truxell/sets/

Nicely done. I will try something similar, but also add the gold tape to help reflect the heat. Planing to wrap my Intercooler piping that is running thru the engine bay with the same tape. If I do this, I will do pre and post temp measure test to see if there is actual improvement in temp reduction. Lots of gold color might make it look little too much but if there in benefit I dont care.

I had my UIM, LIM, DP & Exhaust manifold ceramic coated. I also wrapped the DP and Exhaust manifold in heat wrap. I recently did the gold foil under the upper manifold and on my fuel rails.

I have been thinking about wrapping my intercooler pipes in the gold foil BUT have yet to do it.

Also have a Shine Feed style hood to get better ventilation
