Centre Speaker Amp Removal

Hi everyone.
I am trying to remove the centre speaker amp (93 touring, Bose).

I read a few scary stories and so I'm after it. I have removed the entire Bose system (minus the centre speaker amp) and replaced door speaker and headhuit.

I have removed the dash inserts (they are getting re-faced/covered, pics will follow when it's all done), so I have quite a bit of space to work with and I can see the amp on the right side of the headhunit location, beside (left) of the glove box.

I can see there is a bolt I should be able to access from there, but there is another one I can't see nor get to.

Can anybody tell me how to get to it w/o removing the whole dash?
It doesn't look like removing the glove box would help.

I have searched for hours in two separate days. The best I could come up with was the centre amp fire thread where I could locate where exactly the 2 bolts are.

Thanks.

i was able to get at mine by removing the glove box, there is 2 10mm bolts that you can get at with a small extension. It was pretty easy to get to, you just need to gently yank it out of there once the bolts and clip is undone.

Thanks, I'll try that. But it looks like the bolts are behind the black plastic "subframe" behind the AC/Stereo dash part, which looks like it extends over to the passenger side?

I'll have a look this afternoon.

You can get to it from the glove box side. With the glove box removed, you can pull up the plastic to get to it. Just two bolts along the top to undo the amp. A power plug on the bottom to disconnect it from the radio and speaker. I'll try and find a pic.

You can see the two top bolts in this pix -- just unbolt them and wiggle it out.
Scary shot due to the amp melting/fire, but it is easy to remove.

Another option, is just to unplug the electrical plug from the bottom and leave the amp bolted in.
It doesn't hurt anything, isn't a weight issue and gives a future owner an easy way back to OEM.
The plug is simple, you just go up under the plastic along the carpet, pull the plastic out some and unplug.

Thanks, I thought about that too, but I figured, at this point might as well get rid of the whole thing. I may just place all the Bose stuff somewhere and keep it, or I'll try to sell the entire thing. I have everything in working order, except for the subs amp that is not working properly.

It's out.

I removed the small trim piece in the footwell (left side) and the stereo is out as I am installing a new one. I also removed the glove box.

I accessed the bolt closer to the firewall with a ratchet and extension (10mm), then I used a 10mm stubby wrench to undo the other bolt.

I rotated it and unplugged it from inside the stereo compartment, then I went back to the footwell and wiggled it out from the area where I had removed the small trim piece.

Thanks to everyone who contributed, it is very appreciated.
