catch tank hose??

I'm checking out an oil leak on my friend's car. I found the source of the leak, which is a hose missing from one side of the catch tank. From the diagram in the workshop manuel, the hose that is missing goes from the catch tank to the solenoid valve (purge control), then to a check valve and then to the upper intake manifold. The solenoid valve and check valves are missing. My question is; can I just run the hose form the catch tank straight to the manifold without any problems? Thanks for your comments in advance.

Nope, that would basically give you a vacuum leak and you would pressurize that line from the UIM under boost (which would be a bad thing).
