Buying an FD

I'm going to buy an FD. And I'm looking at one tomorrow afternoon. What should I look for, and what should I be aware of while deciding which to buy?

What is a deal breaker?
What is a bargaining chip?

What is stuff worth and how much does it cost to fix major/minor issues?

Thats the FAQ at the top of the page.. its what i used when i bought my car.. the only thing i had to discover on my own is damaged interior pieces cost a lot to replace.

If you go into that thread and click the first link you see,, scroll to the bottom there is a link that will be dead center of the page.

Sorry about that.. I looked at the sticky's and none of them seemed to be what I needed. Next time I'll look closer.

deal breaker is if they wont let you take it to a rotary mechanic to check it out before you buy. Were are you at in washington it might be a good Idea to have a rotory guy like one of us on the forum to go check it out with you. I wish I would have.

Willing buyer paying willing seller ultimately ends up making or breaking any deals.

The FAQs detail out the known issues with the engine from a reliability and robust-ness point of view, and repair costs etc. Knowledge is power, you HAVE to know about any car (or any item you are wanting to purchase, for that matter) prior to going in to negotiations. In the FD marketplace right now MOST of the cars are in pretty poor condition. Those that a lot of people are thinking they can afford - in the $8K to $10K range, are not worth buying due to the thrashing they have endured. Every boy-racer in the world wanted an FD after 'The Fast and the Furious' came out, and SOME nice cars got all fucked up by the guys wanting to make theirs like "Toretto's".
In a nutshell, stay away from highly modded cars, or any car that shows obvious signs of abuse, no matter what the cost. Deal "makers" would be a seller with all his **** together, showing a recent compression test and evaluation from a knowledgeable rotary mechanic/shop, on a car with good interior pieces, all the fender wells intact, engine bay nice and clean, etc.
