If you had a mindset that was srictly function without any form then you wouldn't own an FD. A small cover to improve the engine bay looks is just that. I think we can sit aside our continual studies of increased thermal dynamics and suspension geometry advancement to do a simple mod that might just look cool....
I just think tack on crap, even in CF is just weight added, air flow spoilt. Yes we want pretty show car engine compartments, that does not mean hid the ****; it means clean it up as nice and mechanical as can. My early comment about covering relates to the general trend to put everything out of sight, car companies don’t want Joe consumer working on the car so cover it up. No reason for Aston Martin, Lotus, BMW to cover the engines, except to be cheap on the clean layout department. Show them it their natural glory and let the air circulate.

The FD is a lot closer to that philosophy than 99% of cars on the road. Form vs function the car has no form only trills. Remember function does not mean “no compromise”; the car did need to sell for in an general public market of below $40 k. Suspension geometry advancement?? The FD remains one of the purest suspension designs of all time, price unlimited. Spring / shock rates are a matter of tuning preferences for differing driving conditions, but the geometry is pure purpose built race car.
