Is this car worth 2k?

Last fall this car was totaled by a local, and now he wants to sell it for 2k with a salvage title. 93 R1 manual trans. It has a power fc and full exhaust, which I think he wants to take off prior to sell. I need some opinions please.

ha that sucks. I'd buy it as a parts car in a heartbeat. If you want to restore it, just make sure you'll put in the time and effort

Low mileage? I am sure you could get a good amount out of it parting it out.

So the motor works? Does the car crank? If so then that is a damn good deal! If I lived anywhere near close ebough I would buy it!

I'm gonna try to talk him into leaving the exhaust, and ecu in it. Maybe then I'll buy it, and strip it. The engine runs..... He had boost issues with the sequential setup and the power fc. I think he needed the vacum hoses replaced. He spun out on a corner when boost kicked in and hit a light pole.

Awesome parts car. It is not a fixer, rear clips are harder to do than front clips, the rear of that car is destroyed, look at the rear floor/spare tire well, I bet it is hammered.

The front clip is where the money is at. Find a FD wrecked in front, you have all the parts needed to fix.

If you don't buy it, let me know where in TX the car is at. I might be interested in buying a parting it out.

What wreck? All you need is some touch up paint and your gravy...

No, really though, especially if the interior is in real good condition, you have a good parts car. Plenty of people are interested in converting to black interior. *cough*like me*cough* Or you could do as others suggested and find a front end wrecked rx7 and built up yourself a car.

a black interior is worth 1k a running drive trains is worth 2k. manual swap is worth at least 1k. It take 2-4 hours to pull a motor. You still have body pannels and suspension, brake, and a bunch of other crap to sell. Unless you dont have any free time go for it. If not pm me and Ill have it shipped to VA. Mike

Interior is flawless.... cloth seats... all black (very popular)
Yea the profit is there and I could stand to double my money, but stripping the car, storing the car, blocking a service bay at work, and having to package the parts/ship the parts, not to mention advertising here on forum(with countless pm's)..... I think I'll do it... lol

The guy had said something about pulling the upgrades off the car before selling it. I'll have to talk him into leaving it alone.

Lets say I strip the car down to the shell... Then what? Junkyard? Cut the left rear quarter sell it too? What about the shipping for the engine...trans... (heavy stuff) It can get quite expensive... Who is the cheapest freight company?

When you get everything stripped you might be able to get the front clip off and sell that too. Could be a couple bucks made there too. I may be interested in the black interior.

If you are strictly doing it to make money I don't think the amount you'd make would be worth your time and effort. I highly doubt he is going to leave the power fc in. A drive train with 70k on it is not worth 2k....not really even close. I had a jspec one with low miles and had a tough time getting rid of it for well less than 2k.

number 1 your numbers are all high. Have you looked on ebay any time lately. you can get everything you listed there for half your estimation. 2 I've parted out a motor before...judging by what you've said I don't think you have. A core is not worth $1000 as you or some people who really have no clue may post on this forum. Go post a core for sale in the parts for sale section for a grand and see what happens...a lot of talk...no action.
Who in the world would pay $150 for 70k mile old motor mounts...they pretty much need to be replaced themselves. Who would pay for a 70k mile old alt. when you can have yours rebuilt and profesionally polished for not much more. All other estimates were just plain old high. Look on ebay on the completed items lists....things will be about half your estimates if that. A LIM goes for $15 on there. On top of that this guy would have the hastle of having this ugly eye sore towed to his house. Then he gets the pleasure of having a totalled car sit in his driveway for many months while he tries to scrape together the amount to cover his cost. He gets to deal with tons of people who are all talk and no money. He gets to package and ship all these little parts here and there, making numerous trips to the post. What little money may be gained is totally not worth it. So to answer your question: NOTHING.
