Car won't turn over

Ok guys I finally got my new motor in my car and I hooked everything up that I know of and I'm ready to trun it over and it just clicks.... like it would when not pressing in the clutch.....I checked my starter....its hooked up, checked the slave cylinder and blead the clutch, then checked the alternator. My battery was dead from sitting so lond disconnected so I had to jump it but still no affect. All my ecu wires are hooked up and when I turn my car to ACC the fans come on and my temp guage rises to the top dont know why coolant is full and car doesnt start and before the oil pressure gauge would do that to....If anyone knows whats goin on I would appreciate the help.

Thanks,
David Bottoms

do you have a multimeter handy? i would check volts to the battery..

how old is the thing anyway? i would have it checked to be sure..it sounds like its not making contact, maybe its your terminals..

Did you check your fuses/relays to make sure they are seated properly (if you removed any to prime the fuel system or anything)?

you need to press the clutch to start the car??

i only press the clutch to start it because i start it in gear to prevent the 3000rpm rev on a cold start..if the car is fully warmed up, i just start it in neutral with no clutch and it starts..

maybe the clutch switch?

btw i love your avatar

its behind the pedal

and thats not totally true on all manual cars..unless people disable them but i have owned so far of 3 manual cars that didnt need the clutch pushed in to start..even my FD now, i can start the car without the clutch although i only do that when the car is fully warmed up..

dude charge the battery or get a good new one, make sure you have all the grounds on the car and that the terminals are tight and clean then see what happens

ok so now its turning over but not starting?

let me ask you this, did you remove the EGI fuse when attempting all those start ups??

your engine is prob flooded severely..i would pull the plugs and check..

and the tps will not keep it from starting however a funky idle could be a tps problem..

First, do a thorough unflood procedure. Try starting the car now, using varying amounts of throttle as you crank.

Once you get it running, run it for a while to clear the lubricants from inside the block and exhaust, and then change the plugs (they're probably pretty gunked up).

check the basics

car has gas? lol

did you pull the plugs? was it really flooded at all? maybe gas is not getting into the engine..

have someone in the car turn the key to the on position and go by your gas tank to see if you hear the fuel pump..

basically you need compression, spark and fuel..its a new motor so we'll put that aside, check to see if you're getting spark and fuel..

is it a new starter? if the starter just clicks and you have a fresh battery, the starter solenoid (sp?) could be shot. it happened to me on my dd, same symptoms

how do you know?

if its not getting fuel, see if the fuel pump is coming on, do what i said, have someone turn the key from inside the car while you are by your tank listening for it..if you dont hear it, check the relay..

pretty much work your way from the pump to the engine itself, everything thats fuel related..
