Question Car won't turn OFF

Curious if anyone has had this happen. I am pulling my FD into a local car show. I back it into the stall and go to turn the car off. I turn the key, the key turns and comes out... but the car is still running. I can give it gas, drive off, the whole thing. I stick the key back in, fiddle around and get it to turn off.

Key goes in, car starts like normal, go to turn the key to turn the car off, nothing. I did notice a *ding* sound as I was able to move the key around in the ignition. Interesting thing is as I move it around pressing in and out something cathces and kills the car. The question here is what do I replace and how difficult. Interesting enough, searching came back with nothing. Surely this isnt a new issue.

I had the same problem with my first FD. I removed the front fender liner cuz my car was slammed and the tire rubbed the wiring on the driver side. I turned the car off and pulled the key out and it was still running. the inside of the wires were showing and they were touching each other, i separated them and used electrical tape and the problem was fixxord
not really sure whats wrong with yours but thats what happened to me

Your ignition switch is loose. It is located on the back side of the key cylinder. Remove the steering column plastic and you will have access to it.

I Have a feeling it is the ignition itself. The internals feel loose with the key in the ignition... This is a bummer.

So I reattached my battery put the plastic pieces back on the steering column, and now the key engages (both keys actually) without any issue. WOuld disconnecting the battery reset anything within the stock "security" package that could cause this?
