Angry BOV troubles.

I've been tinkering with this thing for ages and a couple days ago I finally decided to take it off and really see whats going on.

In the process, I figured out that it was a PROF BOV, apparently a pretty good company from japan (go figure, its a JDM car...) Anyways. I tried to loosen the bolt on the top hoping it would solve some of my problems, but apparently it doesn't.

I've never actually played around with a turbo car, so I have no idea how BOV's work, but I'm assuming (using common sense) that the adjusting bolt shouldn't be moved easily? I mean.. I can just move it with my finger, I can take it off for christ sake and nothing really happens.

Today I kept the car running after I pulled into the garage and popped the hood. This is when things began to worry me (the car itself worries me, I'm always wondering if she'll start.. >.<)

So I rev the engine and then let off the throttle, but no sound. (I'm not surprise as I've never heard the sound coming from my car before.) So I put my finger in front of the opening where the air should vent and tried again. I didn't feel anything. The thing I DID notice how ever was that when ever I did this, when the BOV should have been making the PSSST sound, there was a pop coming from the exhaust, like the pressure of the air was some how coming out of the exhaust. Is that even possible?

I would love some feed back. I'm getting my boost gauge soon so hopefully that will show me a bit more, but right now does anybody have any input? I love my RX7 and I would hate to have something happen to it.

1. post a pic of it, ideally one of it hooked up and at least one of it off the car

2. it may not build enough boost to make a blowoff sound with the car in neutral

(ignore the arrows)

Well there are videos of people and their BOV's and they all make the sound. I don't even really care about the sound, I just want to make sure everything is O.K. I love my car and I would hate to have something major break down. =(

if you pull it out if you apply vacuum to the nipple that the small hose is connected to you should be able to blow through where the large hose is connected. if you dont have a vacuum pump, just disconnect the large hose with the engine running at idle, you should be able to blow through the large hose port.

you have 2 hoses connected to your BOV, with the large hose dis connected and vacuum applied to the small hose you should be able to blow through the port that the large hose was connected to.

It's by a company called Sheepdog. Very few, if any, Western FD's use that BOV. You can check the FC section as a few members have used them on their cars. They seem to be fairly popular with the Supra/Silvia crowd. kyleaudio has already provided the steps you need to test the BOV.
