The 7 is hard on the cold start. If the car flooded you may need to change your plugs.

I had the same problem tonight. I started it up to move it and shut it off and it flooded. I know this is a no-no and there are all kinds of things you have to do to get it unflooded. I found a new solution. Crank it until it starts. It should turn over eventually. Just keep your foot off the pedal until you hear some combustion.

If it's really flooded then the plugs aren't much good anymore, man. You'll have to take them out and clean the gas off and let them dry or get new ones.

Oh lookie what I found! http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/s...g_flooded.html

Yeah, if it IS flooded, you should have at least cranked the engine a couple of times with no plugs in the holes to let all the **** out fly out of it.

Mine WAS flooded, I removed the plugs, cranked her up a few times witha towel infront of the plug holes, then I put a tablespoon of ATF in each chamber, then I installed the new plugs, and she started right up. She congratulated me with a nice big smoke show :p

Sounds dumb but on a lot of 3rd gens when its really cold out before you start the car you have to crack the gas cap open to get it started mine does it, i can crank and crank and it wont start till i open the gas cap. A vacuum is created in the gas tank when its cold, I hope im not alone in this and making myself sound like an idiot

Just crank it over with the gas pedal all the way to floor....the ECU shuts off the fuel flow this way. Crank it for 5 or 8 seconds. Stop. Foot OFF the gas. Crank it again for a few seconds. Repeat this and the car WILL start. It will run really rough and shitty for a minute or two.
My FC used to flood all the time, the FD will only do it (knocking wood)
if I start it cold, and shut it off after a short run time, like pulling it into the garage from the drive.....definitely a big no-no!
But I have ALWAYS gotten my cars unflooded and started by using the above method...none of that ATF routine, no pulling the plugs, etc.
Of course, there might be flooded and there might be FLOODED, too!
