Car Randomly Shuts off while idling/driving

Hey everyone,

Before I start yes I did a search for all the threads thats related to this issue and was not able to see anything that was matching my situation since I am mostly stock and its not the same as what I am facing.

To give some background on this, my car is a 94 efinit(jdm) rx7 it has a power apexi intake and a blitz catback exhaust, it has a turbo timer which i have turned off, and a boost controller, stock ecu. On Sunday I changed my Trans/Diff fluid, changed the oil. and then replaced the spark plugs. Before that I had driven the car on a regular basis and had no issues, after Sunday it ran fine but then on Teusday it randomly just cuts off after I pull it into my garage while it was idling( I let the car warm up before I drove it in). After which I made sure the plug wires are pushed in all the way and they were. Yesterday I turned on the car let it idle for 30 minutes no stutters or anything, cut it off and then 30 minutes later I went and drove the car for like a good hour to hour and a half( 60 mile loop around charlotte) and no issues I pulled it into the garage and let it idle and no issues again.

Today I went to fill up my tank and while sitting in line to fill up the car shuts off again, when I try to crank it over it starts and then immediately shut back off, I was able to push it to the pump and after filling in a few gallons and when I tried to start the car it tried to crank and didnt start. I hit it again and it turned over and I revved it up to 5 grand and held it there for a few seconds before the car turned back off. I waited another couple of minutes and cranked it a few times before it turned over gave it some gas and just started driving it, which once I started driving it, the stalling stopped.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong? I am new to the rotary life and dont know much about the car so any help is appreciated!

I had this and was chasing it for the past few months. Car drove fine until engine just randomly shuts off. sometimes it would stutter and other times rpm would just drop. my engine is mildly modified. I don't know if you have a power commander but I noticed that my coolant temp would drop to 0 and below and engine stalls out. Thanks to Dale this was the culprit to my issue. I would check to make sure your coolant temp plug isn't damaged and you have good signal/connection. My plug was cracked so it wouldn't lock in place and wiggled its way loose causing intermittent signals to the ecu. If your mostly stock does it not throw ck light?

Sorry for the delayed response. I have been busy, however I went through the other day swapped the plugs out again, but I don't think its the temp sensor, I havent had any issues with the temp readings on the dash. However I did take a look and that thing looked like everything was in place and there wasnt any play in the plug itself. while checking the plugs I cranked the engine without the EGI relay in and go figure nothing came out of the plug holes. so what was confusing as well.

I tried using the diagnotic box with the jumpers to see if I still get fuel and the fuel pump is sending fuel when I put the wires on it to make it engage. you can hear the fuel whirling into the system. However the car no longer starts it just keeps spinning. I did notice after I would test it with the jumper it will turn and cut right back off. Would the fuel pump relay cause this issue?
