Car overheating I'm sick of it.

Ok...After 7 months of not having car, I finally have it running but it KEEPS OVERHEATING. I put a new thermostat in it and water pump to see if thats what the problem is, but no. I just installed a Fluidyne Radiator while it wasn't running for 7 months, Ultimate fuel system from rx7store, and I sent them my ECU to tune it for the fuel. One problem after another. I bled out the air, still overheats, filled it up all the way, still overheats, made sure all the hoses were on all the way and tight, still overheating. It's leaking all the coolant out of the passenger radiator tank next to the tire.. The tank is brand spanking new also. So WTF...I'm tired of it. Any help?

Well my water temp on my power FC quit working my sensor broke. But on the dash gauge it goes all the way up to the red line...smoke comes out near the AST and coolant tank.

It sounds to me like you need to get your car to a good rotary shop and stop driving it.

By the time the needle starts to move on the stock gauge, it's already too late. You should start praying that you didn't permenantly damage any internals and get your car towed to a shop immediately.

I'm not driving it. It put a new thermostat and water pump in today and started it up for 10-15 min so it'll warm up. I was trying to see if it'll still overheat. And it did.

well if the reservior is still leaking, then you still have a problem. it's probably the line or possibly something you missed on the install.

I didn't miss anything on the radiator install, thermostat or the water pump. Thats the only cooling **** I messed with really. Wasn't overheating before I parked it for 7 months. Engine was running great.

Well, if it's leaking from a brand new coolant reservior, something is wrong...

Did you say you've taken it to a shop to be looked at?

Also, is it blowing any smoke?

With this post, i would start by getting the pfc to see how hot it is getting. the PFC is controlling the fans, and im thinking they might not be coming on. Thats my guess. We all know it wont cool off if the fans arent working.

The Power FC and commander is working. Once when it got hot before the temp quit working it was going passed 120c. Usually it's around 85c-90celcious. And the fans aren't coming on unless I keep AC on.

No shops around here. The one that worked on mine he's going to a diff company so they're pretty much going out of business. My car shoots out black smoke, but it's running real rich so thats why, smell the gas pretty damn good out the exhaust. No other smoke.

You will overheat no matter your cooling system if the fans dont come on and if you arent driving (ie no air flowing over the radiator). Make sure the fans are comming on, its critical. No point in doing anything else until you make sure of that. Next, I would get the leak figured out. From the sounds of it, it cant be too many things, just start searching it out.

Check/ replace your pressure cap on the AST. Make sure the return hose isn't pinched, kinked. Get that sensor replaced. Call Ray at Malloy pronto. Your computer needs that sensor to help control fuel.

Sounds to me like your coolant seals are gone. Cooling system is being over pressurized by combustion gases, this is a classic symptom when the overflow is constantly...overflowing.

If the fans are not coming on, the car will overheat at idle. Fix your fans!!!! Does the car overheat if you keep the AC on?

^ Got a new one of what? Pressure cap?

You need to make sure your PFC can see water temps or it'll never turn on the fans. Couple that with the fact that it's probably running STUPID rich at idle (superheated exhaust housing, anyone?), and that might be a BIG part of your problem.

I bought a new water pump and replaced it and still overheating. Yes I bought a new radiator cap (pressure cap) and still overheating. But I got it going without overheating now because I kept my AC on the entire time which enables the fans. But I'll buy a new water temp sensor also on Monday from Ray.

change all the lines out. turn on the a/c so it turns the fan on if you have a/c. ive had this problem for ever and ive gone through everything you have done plus changed out all my lines. problem fixed after changing all the lines. but soon after driving another 3k miles im stuck in the same situation if the water seal went out wouldnt the coolant have oil in it?

Ok WOW Bad Motor, now?

WTF is going on....one problem after another ever since I finally got my car running...keeps over heating and ****. Now it seems since it overheated like 6 times in the last 2 weeks it's finally fucked up the housings because everytime I start it, it has no power and it back fires and I have to give it gas and keep the revs up. But when it warms up it runs real well and has the power it's suppose to be....
