lol....been there....steep learning curve with this car, but that's part of the appeal for me, it's a challenge, and there are increasingly few well sorted examples on the road

be different, drive an FD....Beemers are ubiquitous and sooooo boring

100% agreement, part of why i love this car as well. not exactly common, lots of work to be done, but it's all worth it when i can sit down in her and just drive it.

I also read that the 16x is gonna get better gas mileage, something in the range of 18-20 city, and 25+ highway.

Isn't that what a stock well working FD gets? lol

I've gone from Toronto, Ontario to Pensacola, Florida before on 4 tanks of gas before I started changing stuff on my car. I was pretty surprised but if you don't boost, it does wonders on the highway.

true story, i'm pretty sure my injectors are leaking when i'm driving around town, not too bad, but enough to make it noticeable, i'm not gonna change it cuz right now i've got increased flow mods and the extra fuel is kinda keeping me safe till i get a pfc

yea I luv owning FDs, it thrills you every time you put in your keys and it starts

driving becomes a russian ruelette game etc etc

but there's something so appealing in that

(getting parts for rebuild)

After my fresh rebuild and lots of new parts including a wiring harness, then after break in and 3k miles, I've been up to 22/23 mpg of course staying out of boost most of the time. With allot of boosting and wot, mpg drops down to more like 13-15 but it's soo much more fun

Coolness factor is definitely off the charts.. men and women all lolly gag over the car. Women don't know what it is, think it's very sexy, want to sit in it, ask for rides .. but then wonder why the passenger door "grab" bar is broken - I just tell them it breaks when people hold on too hard from drivin to fast, then they just look scared

I'm hoping I can get an easy 20K miles on it before I have to troubleshoot anything really serious with it i.e. boost issues. Keeping the boost stock, thats the safest bet. Hopefully I can get 70-80k mileage on this motor and even more on the BNR's.

As far as the new RX-? goes, I hope Mazda just releases the RX-7 again. Same body, chassis, but better INTERIOR. Just a few sublte differences here and there. They should make a "hybrid" version and a "track" version, lol.

No because hybrids are fails and the RX-7 itself IS the track version.

they definitely need to stick with the pure sports car theme and follow the Lotus example, but not that small/bug like....cut the weight down to 2600, keep the creature comforts, keep the same basic exterior with subtle refinements (none of this 'futuristic' bullshit), 320 n/a....a sure winner

amen!
stock na 3 rotor with the higher displacement rotors and housings from the 16x maybe? and possibly solve the mileage issue
if anyone has seen the issue of, i think it was import tuner, with the rx7.8 on the cover, something like that would be awesome. cept with the above mentioned motor. and possibly a little more interior room, maybe 2800 lbs

OH OH OH! performance version with a single turbo setup with 450 hp! R3/4 call it? sport suspension, bigger bbs rims, larger brakes, a front splitter, rear defuser, and rear spoiler perhaps?

agreed, something similar to what the acr/competition coupe is for the new viper, a true road legal race car, and make the stuff like radio, climate control optional, maybe a roll cage option for a full all out race car?
