Car Idles ,but wont start

third gen rx7 suddenly stopped starting
I don't drive the car, but start it ones in a while let it run for 2-3 mins.
Today i started it ran for a bout a 3 mins then it slowly died ( sluggishly) when i try to start it again wants to start but is not quite catching something (exact same as if your starting your car in the morning below 30 degrees in winter.

The car is parked slanted downhill and i do have a quarter tank of gas in there.

The car also recently started doing this, what does this mean ? ( the black exhaust resedue on the back bumper from the exhaust), does not actually blow black or any color smoke from exhaust though

k i think i know what it might be,
i remember when the car used to start it was very sluggish (felt like it was goina die, but did not) also i remember when it's stationary (neutral) i gave it a bit of gas and after that it felt like it did not hold the same idle sound as it should

you need to run the car for longer then 3 mins at a time. that is not long enough to get the car to operating temperature. you probably have carbon build up all over and the plugs are probably fouled. change the plugs and do the deflood procedure if necessary. Then get the car fully warmed up and take it for a hard run. maybe even do the steam clean method to clean up everything. And in the future make sure everytime you start the car you let it run till its fully warmed up.

I can almost guaranteed say its the plugs. There is also a possibility your turbo oil seals are leaking.

You run your car 3 minutes once and a while??? Dude your chambers are probably so fouled with carbon it isn't even funny. You need to let it run for like 10-20 minutes and then give it some slow revs.

change the plus and unflood the engine as other mention, then take it out and red line it a few times, these engine can use the high rpms to clean it out.

eh i have a lot to learn about the rotary.. I'm used to soarers and 3000gt's
I also thought changing plugs would be agood idea since when i changed the oil it was charcoal back (assuming it hasn't been maintananced in a looong time)

is this the procedure for de-flood ?

If you can get the car to start, you don't need to go through any deflood procedures.

Change the plugs, let it fully warm up (10-20 minutes) and go for some hard runs to clean it up. And never start the car and only let it run for 3 minutes, that equals not good things.

Note: Simple deflood procedure would be to unplug the EGI fuse and crank the car for 5 seconds. Then plug it back in and try to start the car again.

NGK OEM plugs are more then fine. Make sure you have the stock 7 leading, 9 trailing heat ranges. Unless the car is quite a bit modified.

If it's modified to some extent (ie intake, cat-back, IC and a downpipe)- go with all 9's is the general idea.

wow changing plugs on this is ridiculous, i guess previous owner tighten them to the ****. The old plugs were as dark as the oil change and has semi -oily tips.

The car started with a bit of gas, i redlined it a few times i guess its good now

thanks for help guys

u should never warm your car up for only 3min... that's not even a warm up especially if you are not driving it and just letting it sit on the drive way. Make sure to warm up and idle for at least 15minutes if you don't drive it at least once a week.
