Does it sustain that idle speed for a long time? Sure it isn't just the 3k warm up?
If your intake was fucked up I would think it would idle lower than normal and borderline stall so that doesn't make much sense.

When you turn the idle adjustment screw does it have any effect?

I had the same problem couple weeks ago and it was a bolt that popped out of the throttle body from a mod related to removing the warm up butterflies.

Sounds like your Throttle Cable may be kinked on something.

I had the same problem....its most likely a kinked throttle cable...heres how you tell.

Start the car and let it idel at 3000 or whatever and have someone else sit in the driver seat and watch the rpms. Go to both the cables and force the thing they attach to all the way down (aka close up the butterflies inside all the way) If the idle drops your cables are too tight/kinked.

Did you happen to make remove or adjust the TPS? If so you may want to look at this thread:
