car has just shut off several times (at random) while at idle...

In the past 500 miles or so, for some reason, the car has just "died" at either idle, or while almost stopped several times (maybe 4). it happened several different times while going slow over a slightly steep downhill drive (to avoid scraping the lip), also happened once while almost stopped on a very slight uphill grade.

Someone has mentioned a clutch switch...

Any thoughts on this? The car does start right back up. Has happened with full fuel and 1/4 tank, and a in between.

where is the idle at (rpm)? Do you have a lightweight flywheel? I had my car die on me coming to a stop when i have a lightweight flywheel on my MR2. Does it die violently? or a very slow slow death ??

idle is normal, about 760, 770.
stock flywheel.
the cut off is just like turning the car off. smooth, quick, just stops.

well, does not sound like the car is struggling to stay alive but just dies slowly...hum..how old is the fuel filter/pump/regulator/p-dampner?

So say if we just let the car idle, it will all of a sudden die? or is this coming to a stop, then it dies?

hasn't happened with it just sitting there (i don't think)
it was always while the car was almost stopped, or just at least moving (with the clutch in, or the clutch out)

Remove about 4 percent fuel from the idle and 2 percent from low throttle. Add 5degrees of timing at idle and 3 at low throttle. This is what I did to fix mine.

do you have a pfc or a computer because you can just set your idle higher and your car shouldn't kill anymore but if it does then you might have some problems.
