Unhappy Car broken into while at shop

Left the Mazda at JPR Imports to get worked on while I was on vacation and some bastard/bastards went there and i believe broke into a total of 6 cars there.Jim told me they took the radio and a speaker I had on a box with amp,but i dont know if anything else was taken as well.Just got back from vacation and just hate to go over there and see if theres anything else gone.Anyone else's car there?I feel bad for Jim,cause i dont know whats gonna happen as far as his shop.I mean,i dont know whos responsible,or if the insurance takes care of it,or what.

P.S. $500 reward to whoever did it,just to beat the **** out of them.

Feel for you both. On the responsibility front, the shop/owner has to stand up and take the costs, which the insurer should cover.

In my experience... the shop/owner will not be responsible for damage due to theft or vandalizism. Most shops have you waive thier responisbility on such things when you sign the paper work authorizing them to work on your vehicle. There is usually a sign that states the same thing. At least that is what my insurance agent told me when it happened to me. Again though, I am only speaking from my experience when a similar incident happened to me. I have to assume its normal though, as my insurance carrier didn't flinch, just paid for the additional repairs (broken window, torn apart dash, etc).

Sorry to hear about it though... its always got to be the car you care about too...

people are ******* crazy, I was at LA fitness working out and by friend was driving by and saw 3 people trying to break into my 7. So he pulled into the parking lot and tried to hit them with his supra (i would have let them break in rather then risk my supra ) any way, he rolled up and pulled out a knife and they ran off. They were trying to slim jim my car right in the middle of the parking lot.

I think this is a bunch of bull! R1chard, I think the insurance company jerked you. If anything happens to you or your belongings on someone's property you can sue. I believe the insurance company will tell you anything and everything to sway you from fileing a claim and/or sueing. Talk to a lawyer or go to the library and do some research.
Sorry to hear about your loss gafu

I know some insurance companies cover it if the car was in the garage, but if they were storing it outside it is your (or your insurance companies) responsibility.

Thanks.Just got done talking to Jim and he says that he has a $500 deductible PER car,and that I needed to show receipts of the radio, amp and speaker.I just bought the car and it came with it,so I have none. All I really want is for the window to be replaced, and if the dash was broken, that too.As far as the radio and speaker,I really dont give two ***** about.I mean its gotta come out of the mans pockets if it aint worth 500.Im not here to beat the guy up,but if theres a way to beat the insurance company up,im in.On another car,a full new turbo setup was stolen from the rear hatch,wheels/tires,and they moved my boost controller but didnt take that.I think whoever did it didnt know what they were really doing.Either which way,the beatdown stands. If they were 16 y/o,ill lower my thinking to 16 and beat them the heck up either way. Thanks to all who care about what happens to something they really love(wife is a close second)j/k

It's called "care, custody, and control". While your car is in his shop, he is responsible for it while under his care, custody, and control. If he has a $500 deductible, then that is what he has to pay toward the total damage to your car. His insurance company will pay the rest.

Don't feel bad about him having to make a claim under his insurance. Thats why he buys it. Maybe this will convince him to upgrade his security. If he does, he may get a discount on his insurance
