The module is a black box with a little round circle(spade) connector on the end. I thought it had a spade connector on the end, I could be wrong though it's been a while since I looked at it. You did look around where the ecu is and still can't find it? Did you try unbolting the ecu and looking for it? Mine was not hard to find, it's not attached to anything..

yeah i tried removing the ecu too. still couldn't find a black box. found a blue harness with a black/green wire. but i don't think that's the right wire. the site said there are five wires in the harness. the blue one i found has much more than 5.

is the voodoobox one the one that taps into the relays? if so that's the one i ended up doing. but i don't want this one... i want the fans to run after i shut down. and... call me picky but this is just another set of wires that run through the firewall that don't need to be there (if i can get the other fan mod working).

is there a possibility that canadian fd's are different?

Mine cannot be found also. I did find a black wire with a female spade connector coming off the small black box so I tapped into it, ran it to a lighted rocker switch in the console, then from there to ground. I flip the switch and the rocker lights up! WTH? The wire hanging is supposed to be a ground, not hot! I have no idea why a hot lead is hanging from the stock ECU box/loom. Anyways, still cant find the wire. Guess I'll have to unwrap the loom in case it is tucked in there somewhere.

93 5-speed with recalls completed

It is actually a recall modification, and I believe it is still free from the dealers, as long as the car never had it performed. It is just a small wiring harness and black box that is installed between the pre-existing harness. The wire is a shielded female spade connecter. To test, turn the ignition to on (not start) and ground the connector, fans should come on, if not, you have a bad relay or the little black box is fried (happened to me).

so without the recall performed will the fans turn off when i shut down the car? is that why that's happening with my car? how hard is it to perform the recall mod if i get the parts from mazda? i don't like having others work on the car.
