cant figure out whats going on with my new motor
I have about 350 miles on my new motor, which has been cryo'd and street ported. Now I know that its gonna take some time for the motor to build compression, but it feels rough when its cold. It has no problems firing up NE more, but it feels like its either misfiring or leaking alot of boost when I try to move the car at slow speeds. It studders and hesitates to get above 3k. Once warm, the roughness improves, but overall the gas pedal feels unresponsive. I just changed my plugs today, and still not much of an improvement. Could a coil pack(s) gone bad? I am hoping that this is ignition related, and as far as my boost patterns, I don't have a boost gauge so I dont know what its doing.
Another thing that I noticed today was that the oil light came on after driving for about 15 mins. Pressure was fine, just the light came on and flickered on and off like a badly connected light bulb, then stayed on for a bit then shut off completely and I didnt see it at all on the way back home. I got to my destination and checked to see if I was low on oil, and it was nearly full. Do I possibly have bad grounds?

Just a couple of thoughts.....check the infamous MAP sensor on the firewall for the stumbling and the Oil pressure switch below the oil filter (they're known to get dirty and send false signals)....

OK, I do have vibration on the way up through the rev range chronos. I forgot to mention that. As far as the map sensor, there is a check valve that has an arrow that I have faced towards the sensor itself, and not towards where the vacuum line goes. I cant find that oil sensor. Ill take a harder look soon. There is a wire that is hanging loose that I cant figure out where to put though. It comes off of the wiring harness underneath the oil dipstick; its a white plug that just sticks right out of the wiring harness, with a "twin cylinder" looking male plug that goes with it, with a slot for two wires to come out of the back of it. One wire is affixed to this plug, and it is a HOT wire under my hood wiring to absolutely nothing at the moment. I will try to post some pictures of this wire soon. maybe this could be the oil sensor? Anyhow, I am interested in figuring out if my coils are bad or weak. Are the coils expensive? should I just replace all of them? Should the wires get replaced at this time as well? I think they are pretty new though, but you never know. The car sat for a long long time. And would better grounds help or improve my cars ignition?
FC3S.org rebuilt the motor for me. I have a lot of confidence in the fact that this motor is going to be really strong. Its just the exterior components i.e. stock turbos and its relating problematic parts that I worry about.

here are a couple of pictures of that plug in question. I need to find out where the wire goes. I have both sides of the plug, I just dont know where the wire goes, or if I am even missing one wire, because it looks like 2 wires come out of the plug only I have just one comming out. The picture will explain this question. Oh, and in addition, I had a lot of either oil or some sort of build up spitting outta my exhaust on start up. It was dark and thick, sputtery. if someone can figure out what this plug is and where it goes that would help a lot, but Ive been running my car without it plugged in, so Im assuming that it can't be that major, however my car isnt running that well to begin with, so it might help to have it plugged to its proper location.

so where does the wire go? NE how, I am more concerned with the coil pack(s). Is there a way to test to see if I am getting spark from them, i.e. is there a way to find out if they are weak or bad? What else could be causing me to get a bad spark, or get vibrations as I rev up through 3k.

so is it critical to have it in in order for my car to sense whats goin on with the oil level? or is it "okay" to run it like it is in the mean time? Oh, and can someone try to figure out whats goin on with my motor being so unresponsive? I wish I could figure out how much boost Ive got, but aside from that it feels really unresponsive. My fuel injectors were stuck open, so I fixed that, but Im wondering if a grounding issue or some coil pack problem would be the culprit for its unresponsiveness.

dude the white plug is the oil level sensor in the oil pan that only works the light (dummy light) for when the oil goes low have you already done a compression check you stated you saw oil coming out of the exhaust ......did you check if there is oil deposit on youre plugs that could be the cause for the hesitation and vibrations you feel ...the coils on the 3rd gen rarely go bad .....do a compression check then you will at least know whats up with youre engine ....a freshly rebuilt motor should respond crisp and clean
