Can you test the brake master cylinder?

Ok, I am about to replace my lines with SS braided ones as well as changing my fluid to ATE Super Blue. Before I do this I was wondering if there was any way to test the master cylinder. Like many other 3rd Gen owners my brake pedal needs a small pump to truly become stiff. I took it to a local shop about 6 mos. ago and they flushed the brake system with new fluid. They used a new pressurized system that is supposed to eliminate the need to bleed the system at each corner. I don't know how a pressurized system could eliminate air near the end of a brake line as I thought all it would do is compress it but that is a different arguement. Needless to say it did not fix my problem.

Is there any way to test the master cylinder? Before I waste 2 Liters of ATE Super Blue fluid I would like to know. Would I be better off to buy some cheap fluid and then individually bleed the brakes from each corner before doing any work on them just so that I can test the master cylinder(Would this work)?

2 things. turn the car off and pump the pedal like 5 times to remove the booster reserve it should get damn hard. hold it firm and start the car. when the car starts the pedal should go down slightly and then catch again. that means the booster is ok. with the car on press the pedal to lock up, hold that same pressure for 10-20 sec does the pedal drop? if it does and there is no leak, low pads etc then the master is prob going bad

Thanks a ton, I'll give that a try when I get home. I hopefully will have no problems and I will be able to get the lines done this weekend.
