Can someone help me with dash removal

I am having a hell of a time getting my dash out. I'm trying to replace my carpet and I can't seem to get the dash out to do so. So far I have removed the gauge cluster, the surrounding area of the a/c controls and radio, i removed the 10mm bolts from behind the a/c covers on both sides of the dash, the 12mm ones on the inner sides of the center console by your feet, and I also removed the 10mm bolt from the middle of the top of the dash closest to the windshield and this thing is still not budging.

What else do you need to remove?? Do you have to drop the steering column and wheel also?? Are there any bolts I'm missing? The thing isn't budging, not even a little bit. Can someone help me out here? Thanks

If someone could point me in the direction of some instructions that would be good too

I did drop the steering column and now the dash will move around a bit, just need to take out the stock stereo and I should be good to go.

The stock stereo can stay in. You'll just need to go to the right side of the center console remove the plastic cover on the side and you'll see the plugs for the antenna.

Yes those bolts are all out, I just need to unplug the stereo and I can now lift the dash out. I might not take it completely out of the car, I might just lift it up and yank the old carpet out.

This turned out to be quite the pain in the ***, but it will be so worth it to get rid of the ugly tan carpet. The tar they use to hold down the carpet is really strong though, that is for sure. Some parts I've really had to pull to get up thus far.

Uhhhggg.....ok dash is out. But it looks like I still have to remove whatever is left sitting on top of the carpet to get it out. Is that the heater box or what? Thanks guys

you don't have to remove that, at least I didn't to get the carpet in.

Also, that connect your AC so unless you want to release your R12 and pay to refill it I would work around it.

Gotcha, I'll just put something to lubricate it on the new carpet and slide it under. Pulling it out is a bitch so far, almost have it all the way out. Oh, and those clips on the dash that have to be removed before pulling the dash out were a pain in the *** to get to unclip lol....I can tell they have been in there for 12 years

What clips? The instrument cluster clips? You don't have to take the instrument cluster out either...

No the wiring clips that are attached to the dash. I wish I wouldn't have removed the instrument cluster, I broke my gauge hood.

OK guys....need a bit of help

I can't seem to get the carpet out from under the heater box. I've pried all the glue and other sticky **** up, but I can't seem to slide it out. Is there a trick to it? Anyone who has replaced their carpet, if you can help me out here I'd really appreciate it

Here are a few pics, wish me luck putting it back together

there is a bolt that the carpet fits over....just cut around it and pull it out. If you look at your new carpet you will see the hole that is in the stock carpet

So are you saying just leave the stock piece of carpet there after I cut around it and then just cut the same ammount out of the new carpet and put it back in around it? Or am I missing some way to cut the carpet and be able to slide the whole stock one out.

just cut it so it goes as close as you can to the bolt.....that way you dont leave any stock carpet.
