can i use 91 turbo housings

i am in the process of rebuilding my motor and am having a prob finding Fd housings. i found a guy with 91 turbo housings in good shape. he says they are exactly the same and they will work no prob. i know they are similar but i thought the FD housings were beefier in some places. will i run into any problems using these housings? if not my motor will be back together sooner than expected. also will a 91 rotor work with a 3rd gen rotor

I do not see how a 91 compressor housing would work. First of all they are single turbo and it's bigger. Secondly our intake inlets use bolts to mount to the housing. Lastly, the air exit part of the housing wouldn't match up to the ypipe.

I don't know to much about the rotors, I'm sure any 13b rotor will work but may have different compression. Just get what was made for your car and you know you will be fine. This isn't a car to go cheap on.

o now i see why i didn't get a response on this. i am wondering if the rotor housings are the same not the turbo housings. i feel kind of dumb now. ok what is the difference between 91 turbo and 93 rotor housings and rotors. according to mazdatrix the rotrs are the same weight and compression. is there any other differences?

You can use the 89 1/2- 91 housings on a FD motor, the only difference is that you have to block a coolant passage on the 89 1/2-91 housing for it to be used on the FD motor, that's the only difference.

i believe the coolant passage is above one of the intake ports. its obvious to see. most guys with 2nd gens epoxy it shut anyways. itll be above the port and looking like it would go into the intake manifold. im gonna be using some of the same housings on mine too
