Question Can I (legally) drive w/out my taillights?

I sent my frickin' taillights off to a guy in FL to get 'em the '99 J-spec treatment. It looks like I won't have them back by the weekend b/c of the slow mail system (damn anthrax), and I need to get up to Steve Kan's place on Friday.

Can I legally drive w/out them? If not, what do I have to do?

NO

Go to Autozone and buy some of those $2 round taillightsm, wire them up, and mount them on the hatch.

Or just act like they fell off and tell the cop "maybe thats why that car behind me ran off the road and hit 5 cars back there".

Sure you can...You just have to use your handsignals.

It's not going to be as safe, and it certainly isn't going to be fun...

You may not have to! I JUST got them (thank you Mr. Postman for being my friend and bringing my packages to me before you deliver any mail [sometimes]). I'm about to start working like a dang fool to get them done. The weather is awesome for painting, so it looks good, you should have them tomorrow!

Yes, yes, yes! Awesome news! Mail those ***** next day; I'll send you the extra money. I called RP today and Bill told me that there are some kind of post-office closures going on in FL and the mail's moving very slowly...do you know anything about this?

thanks man

Yeah West Palm Beach has like 2 or 3 post offices shut down. In our little town, one of ours was shut down because of that package exploding and throwing white powder everywhere. I THINK I heard something about one in Tampa being closed. I'm sure there's more, but I'm pretty sure it won't affect the lights if I ship them Express. If I get them done in time, I'll check with UPS first and see about a price for overnight with them, if it's as $$$$$ as I think it is, I'll do the post office (they've been doing pretty good with Express packages still).

Oh I should mention........the final coat of paint on the lenses is drying as I write this. In a little bit over an hour, I've gotten them apart, painted, made lunch, and eatin it (in between coats). I LOVE this weather!

When I was getting them done I had to drive a little w/o tails. I didn't drive long distances though and if I saw a cop I would freak out.... It was all worth the wait though.
