can anyone possibly identify this problem
ok so i have a pretty big boost leak. you can hear a fairly obvious leaking sound, like a whistling almost when the car starts to get boost. well i just intalled a boost guage and this is the boost pattern at around 3500 rpm it reaches 6 psi and that is where it will peak, then at ~4300 rpm it drops of to ~2-3 psi then builds back up to 5 psi and holds there till the redline. i want to take care of this problem as soon as possible but i dont want to just just blindly into it so i wanted to check if anyone thought this sounded like something in specific before i went about fixing whatever the problem is. any help would be appreciatted.

there are many threads along these lines. try searching them to get the different possibilites of what this could be.
its probably a coupler somewhere that is leaking. or maybe not...

Did it just happen after installing the boost gauge or have you always been able to hear it. Depending on the way your boost gauge hooks up to the line it could be leaking there. Course I doubt it would leak enough to make that much difference
I'd just pull all the IC pipes off and check each coupler very close. They are known for tearing and you can tell unless you inspect them very close and sometime kinda pull on them from each end.
Good Luck,
STEPHEN

yeah look at all the IC pipes and the couplers
it may be a small slit in one of those so take them off and poke at them with your hands and bend them to find it...when I had a HUGE hole in one of mine I was getting 3psi...it was just after taking the car to 15Omph with 13psi and the car was non seq so I knew exactly what happened I got out at the next light and found the hole that my hand could fit into and was relieved
check the conncetions on the uim also and if the noise sounds just like your bov when its vented check the hoses on the charge relief stuff on the y pipe it may just be causing air to vent through your bov or crv

its been doing it since i got the car and i knew that it had to be a leak. it does sound very similar to the blow off valve. just got the boost guage a couple days ago. i think im gonna check out all the ic couplers and the other recommended stuff this weekend. if anybody has other ideas that are fairly easy to check please post them so i can check those also.

if you have a hard time finding it take off the intake filters and stuff the 2 hoses with tennis *****...then hook up an air comressor with an adator for one of the nipples on the uim and push air in there and it has to come out of the place where the leak is....
