Question Can anyone identify this sound correctly?

This is a vacuum leak. Can anyone guess where?
This should be an easy one. Let me know what you think.

sounds like a gasket is acting as a reed when air passes by it, check for a vacuum leak

Do you have a boost gauge? do you know what your vacuum is at idle? Should be around 16/17 mmHg give or take a couple.

That screeching sounds absolutely horrible.

My guess is the "wagon wheel" check valve behind the air control valve - misaligned or something funny like that.

Awful hard to pinpoint a screeching problem like that from a audio. I am convinced it is NOT a vacuum leak though. Rather a bearing or bushing. Check your idler pulley first and go from there. Maybe Pilot bearing if it's a manual.

Using a mechanics stethoscope would help you too.

Let us know what it is.

I would guess around this. Maybe a water pump or belt. Hard to tell in an audio.

'They' keep insisting it IS a vacuum leak. The only question is...where.

Im guessing it is an efini ypipe and it is the gasket between the ypipe and crossover pipe. If not that then between the turbos and ypipe.

My guess is that you have a pig caught in your engine bay.

Without any belts on the engine, it still makes this noise.

well you def have a vac leak somwhere. check your couplers above the y-pipe? though it does sound like a belt rubbing against something.

or maybe its a cat caught in your fans..

Sounds like its not getting enough air going to the engine.. Did you upgrade your IC / Air intakes? it should be somewhere you should look. try to remove them and see if it do the same.

well no doubt about it. youve got a nasty case of piggies in there!

my reccomendation: turn engine off immediately get a fork and threaten with bacon!
that should clear it up right away

All IC pipeing has been removed Y pipe is off, all belts are disconnected.
You guys have some good ideas but none are the correct ones!

The 1st person to get this correct will get 6 months of free web hosting!

Which means it would have to be on the UIM or LIM, right?

I'm going to guess brake booster or pcv valve...

thats your godzilla power-up death beat alarm. The spirits of the hidden rotor will send Godzilla to fix your car when the warning is sounded....usually takes a few weeks though....he swims from japan....then has to disguise him self as a truck to get inland.....no worries....just be sure you have some chicken er somethin cooking when he arrives. he's hungry.

.....or check your TB/UIM gaskets.
