I don't know the name but I know there's a company that advertises such a system in the back of Sportscar. I can check if someone wants.

hi Jim, yes the split screen was done in post. I have looked into the 'ovelay' systems and dont like any of them yet. I may end up making my own. Most use either low res cameras, or non digital fromats, and im not interested in moving to either of those options. Also, I dont like any of the visual treatments on the overlayed info on any of the sytems so far, so I am more interested in aquiring the data, and feeding it into a system to sych it with the video and have the data manipulate pre-designed graphics for the speed, tach, et, et...that way you could change the graphics treatment of the 'superimposed' instruments seperatly from the data....i dunno yet,... im just babeling, ... but i have some idea :-) .... just need tiem ti execute on them.

i have looked at 4 or 5 different systems...some are better than others, but none do exaclty what I specifically want to do yet. And maybe what I am thnking is just not practical to do in real time, instead its best done in post production.

Damian, if you're going to put together a computer-based recorder anyway, you've got more than enough opportunity to datalog all of your stuff through a serial interface, for example, and then animate the output and do the overlay in post...
