I just got a used M2 CAI. Had to do a few things to get it to fit with my koyo, but in the end I got it in there. I get it all bolted in and am ready to connect the intake pipes and I realize that the primary intake pipe won't fit...
It turns out that the A/C line that runs along the passenger side frender wall runs right accross the hole in the M2 box where the primary turbo connects . I tried bending it and moving it (I only need it to move about an inch or two), but I just couldn't get it to work.

Has anybody elese had problems with this? Anybody have any easy solution for moving this line? I took some pics last night, I'll try to post them tonight (at work now ).

Remove its mounting bracket on the fender wall. See if that will allow you enough clearance to move it out of the way.

 

tried it... no luck.

 

My M2 box does not interfere with any AC lines. Maybe a pic would help?

 

Also, my M2 cf box had no such clearance problems. Slipped right in.

I should clarify this. The box fits in just fine, however, the A/C pipe intersects the hole on the box where the primary torbo intake pipe connects to. So I have no way of connecting the primary turbo to the box...

I'll post pics tonight after work... I even called my mechanic and he said he never heared of such a thing. it's my luck I guess .

 

I had no fitment problems either. The only issue was that the m2 box rests on top of the radiator hose, which I has to push down slightly to get the box low enough to close my hood correctly. The box still touches the hood liner, but oh wells.

 

Your AC piping shouldn't be anywhere near the primary turbo pipe connection on the M2 airbox. Sounds like someone bent it up off its normal position near the frame when messing around under there.

Don't listen to the other guys, I have the same problem. I can't remember if it is A/C line or not, but I think it is. Try loosening the intake put on the primary hose and then tighten it down. It is a PITA but somehow I manage to get it on there.

 

Yup, just jam it on in there and hope for the best...

The AC lines were somehow tweaked into a position to interfere with the primary turbo connection on your M2 airbox; you should be able to at least bend them back close to their proper mounting position so that they don't interfere.

 

I have three pics from last night... bear with me while they load.
This one is from the inside of the box, looking through the primary intake hole. The a/c line is on the left. I know it doesn't look bad, but it will NOT move (in a permanent way) .

I'd rather not risk ripping the hose, or restricting airflow to the turbo . I know it looks like the line can be moved easily, but it wont stay in any position. I can move it out of the way (it has about an inch of give to it), but there is no way to keep it out of the way permanently as it flexes right back to its original position... any ideas?

You're going to have to trace the line back to the heat exchanger and/or compressor, and see if where it is either binding on something, or was bent out of shape for whatever reason. You may have to remove some components to see clearly enough (i.e., I/C, battery and tray, etc.). Most likely the line is bent somewhere towards the compressor, which is causing it to have less slack and pulling it up in front of your primary turbo coupling. You can carefully bend the tubing back to somewhere near its original shape so that it has enough "slack" to clear. Hope this helps.

 

I bent my line when I installed my oil cooler thermostat. You have to remove it from the car unfortunately to do so. I wasn't as delicate as kento though, I ended up clamping it into a vice grip in several positions and beating on it with a small sledge hammer. Be careful not to kink the pipe while you are bending it.

 

for anyone who has this problem in the future, a 2X4 and hammer works wonders.... .
