I don't think you'll be able to find R-12 without paying exorbitant amounts, I think it is phased out and illegal.

What you will find is freeze-12, a substitute.

I just did some research, because I am reinstalling my AC stuff.

Anyways, the oil you need is mineral based, 500 viscosity.

I need it because when I was moving my compressor, I didn't keep it upright, and a bunch spilled out. Now, since I don't know how much did, I need to remove the compressor, drain the damn thing 100%, so I can fill it to the proper amount.

134 does not cool as well as r12 because the 12 sys have smaller condensers. 134 does not transfer heat as well as 12. that said you can use 134 in your 12 system you just need to flush it out, the mineral oil will not move well in a 134 set up and replace it with some 134 tpye pag oil. r 12 can be bought but it is like 60 bucks or so a 12 oz can. make sure to vac the sys for at least 45 min.

They wanted over $200 the other day to refill with R12 so I went with Freeze12 and it shoots very cold. Can't compare the two because it's been a while since I had A/C but it definitly does it's job. Anyway, it only cost me $80 and took 20 minutes, not sure if that's a good deal or not but it was a very hot day and I didn't give a crap!

By the way, if your not sure about leaks, have them put in some dye and watch for any leaks with those funny yellow glasses...

You can remove the compressor, once you have removed the power steering pulley and loosened the power steering pump/assembly behind it. You don't have to disconnect the power steering lines, yo u can just move the unit to the side. There are 4 bolts going towards the passenger firewall that run through the compressor You can see 2 on top, and there are 2 at the same position on the bottom of the compressor. You need to loosen these. You will also want to remove the AC line on top before you remove the compressor. You can remove the side line once you pull the compressor out. There is also an electric connector on top of the compressor.
